Long Jack Phillipus Tjakamarra grew up in the bush west of Mt Farewell and came into Haasts Bluff settlement with his whole family as a teenager. In the early 1970's he was part of the original art movement at Papunya.

In 1983 Long Jack won the NT Golden Jubilee Art Award and the Alice Springs Art Prize in 1984.
