Aboriginal Art by Evelyn Pultara
Evelyn Pultara is from the Utopia area, approx 270kms north of Alice Springs in Central Australia. She was born around 1940 at Woodgreen Station and is related to famous artists Emily Kame Kngwarreye and Greenie Petyarre. She is an Anmatyerre woman and is the mother of six children.
Evelyn is a shy, quiet person whose strong paintings are such a contrast to her quiet nature. Her paintings are associated with the Bush Yam, inspired by the songs and stories from the area. The bush yam is a important food source and Evelyn portrays this is both a linear style and a more abstract style which she developed.
